WarmShowers with Buenas Cosas
We’ve been hosting Cyclists for years, long before we were Buenas Cosas. We like helping cyclists and appreciate their eco-friendly, bicycle-happy choice of travel. We’re cyclist too! Awesome getting to know all of you. Lots of great experiences. We’re grateful for your friendship, generosity and love. All Buenas Cosas!
We had the good fortune of meeting one of the most traveled cyclists in the world when we had our hostel in Flores. Heinz was a great guy with loads of great stories. Heinz, next time you come through Peten, be sure and stop by our new place in San Benito. We’ve got a comfy bed and an ice cold beer waiting! Safe travels, Friend!

We have a couple extra bedrooms and comfy Guatemalan hammocks strung under a nice cool palapa hut. Also have a couple nice spots for campers, one under a cashew tree and the other under an almond tree. Our home is being built by us, one block at a time and with lots of love — we might be at the half-way point.
Our home is full of exotic/medicinal plants and big green trees, most we grew from seeds. A small creek filled with native fish and couple little waterfalls winds through the middle of our 30X40 meter (~1/2 acre) property. Hummingbirds sip nectar from dozens of banana plants. Wild parrots fly freely over our overhead. We have three Mayan cherry trees, one with a treehouse, that produce ~200lbs of cherries every year. We have two 6 meter stands of bamboo that sit on either side of the creek. Orchids, epiphytes and bromeliads are scattered about. We embrace the nature that surrounds us.
The goal of our home is to create the perfect balance for our family’s personal needs, Buenas Cosas development work and the needs of our incoming Buenas Cosas volunteers.

We lived in Flores for many years. Flores has changed alot. We prefer the peace, tranquility and simple life of our small barrio. We live like real Peteneros and that’s a Beautiful Thing.
Memo works on his laptop at home, web projects for US clients. When Memo isn’t working, he’s playing with the kids, volunteering his time/talents for Buenas Cosas, puttering around in the garden, mixing cement, beating on a guitar, out on a bike ride or just laying in a hammock with Angelica and sharing a cold beer.
Angelica manages Buenas Cosas’ volunteers and Buenas Cosas’ Partner Communities and projects. Angelica was a chef for years at one of the best restaurants in Flores – her cooking is awesome. Buenas Cosas is our life and our joy. Through Buenas Cosas we serve the poor people and the rich naturaleza of Peten Guatemala.
Should you decide to WarmShower with us, know Buenas Cosas is dedicated, direct, grassroots eco-tourism. We’ll be happy to take you around our barrio, our Partner Communities and our projects. We’re happy to show you all that we do and the good things we’re doing in Peten Guatemala.
If we have availability, you’re welcome to Participate as a Volunteer. Let us know. But there’s with absolutely no sales-pitch, we’re not salespeople – plenty of salesmen are available for commercial consumption in Flores.
All we want is for you to enjoy your stay, share your Buenas Cosas experience with others, so more people will know about Buenas Cosas and the Good Things we’re doing here in Peten Guatemala. Help us spread the word and share the love that is Buenas Cosas.
We don’t share our kitchen or loan anything to anyone.
